There are various legitimate ways to make money on the internet. There are also many scams out there. As a general rule of thumb, if the company that is supposedly hiring asks for money to get started, it is a scam. You can work from home writing articles or blogs, transcribing documents, providing customer service and more.
One way to make money from home is to write articles. There are many companies out there in need of articles for their websites. Some pay a flat fee while others pay based on the amount of views your articles receive. You can also get a job as a blogger. More times than not, content writers have to write about topics they have no idea about. This type of work will generally involve a lot of research. Bloggers generally have to write articles on a specific topic several times a week and receive a flat fee for their work. Bloggers usually have to write about topics they know really well.
Another way to make money on the internet is to do freelance work. There are websites that allow people to sign up and offer their services in several areas including website design, graphic design, programming, content writing, link building, blogging, proofreading, transcription, translation, data entry, customer service, internet marketing and more. Clients submit job offers, freelance workers bid on them and one person gets the job. Freelance work can be quite competitive but if you’re good at what you do you’ll get a lot of work.
One can also make money from home as a transcriber. Transcription companies tend to hire independent contractors whose responsibilities include listening to recordings and typing what is heard or proofreading already transcribed documents. There are three types of transcription work; they include general transcription, legal transcription, and medical transcription. General transcribers type all sorts of documents, legal transcribers type audio from court cases, administrative hearings and the like, medical transcribers type recorded audio from medical meetings, lectures and the like; therefore they have to have knowledge of medical terminology. These companies usually pay per audio hour and one can earn from $8 an hour to $25 an hour. Legitimate data entry jobs are hard to come by so this is the next best thing. Most of the companies that hire general/corporate transcribers don’t have that much workload or receive the majority of their workload quarterly when businesses have conference calls reporting their quarterly income.
There are also companies that hire people to work from home providing customer support to their clients. You’ll need a headset and phone to work in customer service. Online tutors also need a headset, phone, and internet access to tutor students over the web on various subjects including Mathematics, English and Science. Online tutors need a degree on the subject they intend to teach or need to be in the process of getting a degree to qualify for the job. Another way to find work from home jobs is to check out job sites like Craigslist.
