New Hampshire Water Testing

Last updated on December 30, 2011 By AllTheArticles Leave a Comment

Most people realize that clean drinking water is paramount to good health. Unfortunately, some potentially dangerous water impurities are impossible to smell or taste. And because many New Hampshire homes use well water, it is vitally important to have your water tested by an independent lab. You’ll discover not only what types of contaminants are in your drinking water, but also whether or not the quantity of those contaminants poses a danger to your health. Some water issues simply affect the taste and smell, while others cause staining of appliances or bath fixtures, such as high iron, or hard water.

Radon is one of those water issues that can adversely affect one’s health according to experts. Unfortunately, it’s common to find high levels of radon in New Hampshire homes. The system for removing radon from your drinking water is different from a water filter. Radon is a gas, and must be “vented” from the home water system before it reaches the tap. Drinking water can also carry a host of other contaminants, depending on the location of the water source. Some are dangerously toxic VOC’s like MTBE and arsenic, while others like minerals affect the appearance and taste of the water.

As water consultants in New Hampshire, we are certified and trained in the removal of radon. With almost two decades of experience, we are also proficient in the area of removing these other impurities from your home water supply by using the best water treatment systems available on the market today.
Our water testing is done by an independent lab so you can be assured that we have no conflict of interest in suggesting to you products and services that you don’t need.

As with our radon mitigation policy, we only sell you what you need. For example, if you have a water test showing an iron content over .3 ppm, it’s likely you will need some type of water treatment system. What kind you need depends on the type of iron you are removing.

If the iron is “particulate” (ferric) then you will need to strain out the particles using a filtration system that is properly sized for your situation. Not doing this can cause the aeration system to fail, clogging the delivery valves, which will allow the system to overfill and flood the surrounding area with water. If the iron is in a soluble form (ferrous), the most popular treatment method is to install an “Ion Exchange” unit, commonly known as a water softener. Water softeners attract soluble metals from the water using positive and negative charges. It’s possible that both types of pre-treatment methods are needed.
This is why an accurate, independent water test is so important.
