The Woodmans Pal is ideal for anyone who needs to blaze trails, chop firewood, prune or trim branches. It’s the perfect tool for fans of the outdoors, as it’s safe enough for beginners to use. A Swiss architect, Frederick Ehrsam, an artist, engineer, manufacturer and woodsman, introduced the Woodmans Pal in 1941. He designed the Woodmans Pal as an all-in-one tool, combining the best aspects of a machete, axe and utility knife. In World War II and the Vietnam War, the U.S. army used the Woodmans Pal as a multipurpose brush-clearing tool.
What’s Different About the Special Edition Woodmans Pal?
The Woodmans Pal Military Premium, also known since 1941 as the LC-14-B, is considered the best model of the Woodmans Pal. It’s 16 ½” long, with a 5” military-style soft leather grip with steel knuckle guard—the grip stays cool in summer and warm in winter. The blade is 1/8” thick x 10 ½” high, and made of high carbon steel hardened to Rockwell C47, giving it strength for cutting, flexibility, and a sharp edge that lasts. The Woodmans Pal Military Premium features a blade that cuts branches and wood up to 1 1/2 “ in diameter with a single stroke. The unique sickle hook slices through vines, brush and briars to clear the ground.
To commemorate our Veterans, you can engrave the blade of each Woodmans Pal with the name of the war in which a veteran served, his or her name, his or her unit’s name, the date of the war or the words “I was there.”
The original Woodmans Pal features the same high carbon steel blade, but instead, includes a 6” ash hardwood handle and a nylon wrist strap. It weighs 23 oz, while the Woodmans Pal Military Premium weighs 25 oz. Both are made in America, expertly crafted and guaranteed to last for years.
