Brochures are essential in any business, whether it’s a new business or an old thriving one; brochures are still one of the top marketing tools used. Here are a few reminders on what to do when you decide to go on with that brochure printing:
1) Strategic Planning
Do you have anything to write in your brochure? is your organization’s vision – mission goal still as old as you first wrote it? You may need to re-strategize. Suggest a Strategic Planning retreat for your company to update anything new with the company. Include the data in the agenda for the Strategic Planning and take into account what the majority would like to see in the brochure.
2) Have a few lines explaining your company
A clear description of what your company is about is something you must include in your brochure. Your general thrusts or primary products are also included.
Clearly visualize how you want your brochure to look. Think about the pictures you want to include, quotes you want to add and the theme you want for your products or services. Draw it if you can.
4) Brochure Size
Size is an important factor. Most of the printers have suggested brochure sizes like – 8.5×5.5, 8.5×11, 8.5×14 or 11×17 which you can choose from. Ask the professionals which one they would suggest for your layout and if you believe they have a point, follow their advice and use that size. If you intend to mail it let your printers know as well. They might even include an envelope together with your brochure package.
5) Brochure Folds
There are different ways of folding the brochure, most of the professional printers have several methods of folding and each has different names for them. You can ask the Brochure Printer what type of fold suits your paper size and paper type.
The total look of your brochures is directly affected by how the paper prints will be finished. Normally a clear thin coat with UV protection will be added to ensure minimized color fading, water resistance and increased permanence.
Let the professional do everything for you. Supply them with all the necessary pictures and paragraphs and allow them to create samples that you could choose from. They don’t call them professionals for nothing. They have more experience and are used to which designs are best for certain markets.
Let all these work for you, simple to dos but requires continuous and major effort. It is up to you though if you allow yourself to be stressed with the layout when you can have designers to create one for you instead. It would be best to focus on what you will be writing in that brochure and leave the drawing to the pros. Make it a point to avoid highfaluting words that don’t make sense and does not let the reader understand what you are trying to convey.
Brochures make or break you. To put you in the right direction, you need to be sure that your brochures are done well and carefully crafted to perfection. It doesn’t matter if it takes you weeks to finalize your masterpiece before you go for brochure printing, just as long as you make no mistakes and have your brochures ending in disasters.
