Beach Personality: Bodacious Beach, Abundant Amenities, Lovely Location
All of South Walton County’s regional public access beaches have great amenities: free parking, public bathrooms, showers, drinking water fountains, and lifeguards in season. A few, including Ed Walline Beach, are handicap accessible and have beach wheelchairs available. Others, including Ed Walline Beach, have food available within walking distance of the beach and/or shaded pavilions with picnic tables.
So, why do I prefer Ed Walline Beach to these others? Because it has that little bit extra. The parking lot is relatively large. There is a nice shopping center within walking distance where you can eat at multiple restaurants, do a little shopping, and pick up some rental gear. The beach is wider from the access point to the water than some of the others. There is a nice variety of people of different ages ranging from young couples to families to groups of friends to fisherman to older couples, all enjoying the beach in peaceful harmony with nature and each other. All of these things, in addition to the previously mentioned amenities, make Ed Walline Beach a 5 star destination. Apparently Yahoo Travel agrees with me since it picked Santa Rosa Beach as one of it’s 10 Best Beach Destinations for 2011.
